Tango World Championship (Mundial) 2008 Review

I have bought this DVD too and I can say the previous reviewer is indeed a little bit exaggerated.
It is not an over-the-top extremely professional production, it is indeed a private production, but realistically you wouldn't expect to see miracles for such a low price! Most other Tango DVDs on Amazon.com cost between and , which makes this DVD great value for money.
The content is wonderful, and most of the dancers are incredible! However, any tango dancer or enthusiast knows that not all dancers can dance properly to a musical beat, and especially at this kind of competition the choreography will vary along with the music. This has nothing to do with the filming or the cameraperson; the previous reviewer seems not to know that! Also, the picture and sound quality are fine on my TV. In any case, there is a trailer on YouTube for us to see what it's like before we buy it!
I don't remember reading anywhere that this is an official production, but in any case this seems to be the only DVD of the 2008 Tango Mundial available, so I'm grateful to the producers for releasing it, so we can get a chance to see the cream of Argentine Tango in action! The Tango dancefloor comes to your screen for the third year in a row, now for the first time ever in widescreen!
The best amateur and professional dancers from around the world gathered again this year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, all with one goal in mind: to become the next World Champions in Argentine Tango.
This DVD will take you through the choreographies of the best dancers in this Championship of Tango Escenario (Stage Tango), culminating with the countdown of the top five couples, from the fifth up to the number one couple who reached the top and were named World Champions 2008!
Look for the trailer on YouTube to get an idea of what to expect!
There are also extra features, including: - The Closing Act, a final demonstration of dancers from the National University Institute of Art with the World Champions joining in at the end! - A performance by Mariano Mores and his orchestra - Our yearly 'Bloopers show', which includes various mishaps that occured during the course of the Championship proceedings, little happenings to spice things up a bit! This DVD is region-free, and subtitled in English where necessary, and comes in a standard hard DVD case with an inlay cover.
